City of Star
Nate has served as the Mayor since January 6, 2004. He is currently in the middle of his third term. He also served for two years as a City Councilman from 2002 to 2004. Nate and his wife Kelly married in 1995 shortly after both graduated from the University of Idaho. Nate served as an Artillery Officer in the United States Army until 1999. He has been employed in the construction industry in the Boise area since. Nate and Kelly moved to Star in 2001. They have two daughters, Abigail and Evelyn. When Nate is not busy managing the City or trying to keep up with his family responsibilities he enjoys spending his time in the Idaho outdoors with his two bird dogs Lady Luck and Liza Jane.
Star City Council
Chad Bell has lived in Star for over 15 years. He operates a successful sprinkler installation company where he installs sprinkler systems for homes and businesses all over the Treasure Valley. Chad has raised three girls and is married to his wife of 25 years, Reba. Chad has been on the City Council since 2001 and is currently the Council President. He is in charge of several committees for the City including the School Advisory Committee. Chad is also an active participant in his church and he regularly volunteers his time to many worthwhile service projects throughout the community. Chad enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Tom is originally from Ontario, Oregon where he attended TVCC before going on to Oregon State University. He is currently the owner of a local landscaping business and several rental properties in downtown Star. Prior to starting his own company, he spent 18 years with the National Federation of Independent Businesses. He moved to the Star area in 1991 and was elected to the Star City Council in 2003. As a councilman, Tom has served as the liaison to the Department of Parks & Recreation and Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Star Lions. Tom takes great pride in his community and is always willing to lend a hand to his fellow citizens, but his greatest honor is being a father to his two sons and daughter, all of whom are alumni of Star Elementary.
Tammy McDaniel relocated to Star from Mtn. Home, Idaho, in 2001. The US Air Force brought her family to Idaho in 1992, from Spangdahlem, Germany. She is married and has two children. Tammy was born in Hillsboro, Oregon; grew up in Livermore, CA and Williams, AZ. Tammy is employed full time with the Ada County Assessor's Office, DMV, as a Lead Clerk. She was appointed to the Star City Council in 2004, with three re-elections to her seat on the City Council. Tammy is currently the city's liaison to the Star Fire District and the Ada County Library. She enjoys camping, wake boarding, horseback riding and loves spending time with her family. Serving on the City Council has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her life and she looks forward to continuing to serve.
Born and raised in Boise, Richard Lockett has lived in Star since 1998. From 1974 to 2005 he helped run his family's resort every summer in the Sawtooth Mountains. After graduating from Boise High School in 1989, he attended Boise State University for two years. While still in school, he started his own business selling fishing flies which evolved into his business, Richard's Sports Supply. Richard's Sports Supply distributes and sells sporting goods and fishing, hunting, and camping supplies all over the world. He and his wife, Holly, have been married for 20 years and are raising their four daughters. Richard is active in his church. He enjoys snowmobiling, hunting, camping, and spending time at his cabin with his family.
