To improve the lives of citizens in and around Star through the facilitation and promotion of economic development. |
| Goals |
| Strategic Management |
| Identify the collective desires of the majority of Star’s residents with regard to economic development and community growth, recommend policies that create an economic environment consistent with those desires, while recognizing and protecting the private property rights of all Idaho citizens. |
| Business Retention /Expansion |
| Identify the needs and goals of existing businesses in Star and cultivate an environment that addresses those needs and facilitates goal achievement. Assist local businesses when requested. Promote the purchase of local products and services. |
| Business Start-Up |
| Create a local business climate that encourages entrepreneurship and business start-up. Assist local entrepreneurs when requested. Develop infrastructure, facilities, and services that will incubate new businesses. |
| Business Attraction |
| Develop marketing materials that can be used to attract businesses to Star. Engage outside business interests in discussions pertaining to relocation or expansion in Star. |
| Duties |
| -Establish and publish Economic Development Strategic Plan |
| -Conduct monthly EDC meetings |
| -Report to the Star City Council (personally or written) on information and make recommendations monthly |
| -Inform the public (flyers/newspapers) |
| Current Projects |
| -Complete the construction and placement of the four entrance signs. |
| -Create ways in which we can recruit new businesses to Star. |
| -Develop a way to help create new and help support existing Mirco Enterprises. |
| -Improve public participation and increase committee participation for the Economic Development Committee |
