MISSION

Facilitate Community Partnerships between Meridian School District and the City of Star

GOALS  

• Address supply and demand of schools

The City of Star is a growing community and as such will require additional school buildings. Direction of the committee will be to work with the Meridian School District to locate additional school sites and work with the property owner and the District to make these sites available when bonding dollars have been secured.

• Provide Support

With the continued growth, it will be imperative to have the School Committee act as the liaison between the School District and the Council on suggested school sites and how the City through the land use process can prepare for these sites.

• Inform

The Committee will work to inform the public of the direction of the School District in school sites, bonding issues and timeframes. The Committee will also be responsible for tracking and informing the public and Council on projected enrollment numbers and ratios between students and teachers.

DUTIES

• Attend Meridian School District Meetings
• Report to the Star City Council (personally or written) on information and make recommendations monthly
• Inform the public (flyers/newspapers)
• Provide support for bond elections
