The first school structure was built in the City of Star in 1903. As growth occurred, the City responded with necessary structures and in 1912, a four year high school was constructed. That school building was replaced by a new structure in 1937. That original Central Park School building is still standing on State Highway 44, west of the City of Star. Today, Star Elementary school is within the Meridian Joint School District No. 2.
The existing Star Elementary School was constructed in 1975 and is one of 28 operating elementary schools in the district. It is located at 700 N. Star Road. It is the only publicly operated school facility in the city. The Star elementary school facilitates curriculum for Primary education, including Pre-Kindergarten through 5 th grade levels.
The elementary school houses 530 students. This structure is well
maintained and has been periodically remodeled over the years to
improve efficiency, safety and comfort. Modular buildings have been
added to accommodate additional students. The district expects to have
their second elementary school in Star by 2011/2012, dependant on
community growth. Local school administration have voiced intentions to
construct an additional elementary, a new middle school and one high
school within the City of Star.
Secondary education of students in the City of Star is provided by Eagle Middle School and Eagle High School. Students are conveniently bussed to these schools by the Meridian School District.
