Participation Information

Participation at the Star Senior Center is open to persons who are 55 years of age or older and their adult guests, unless otherwise designated by the Senior Center Supervisor.

Participants are asked to complete a Star Senior Center Information sheet upon their second visit to the center.

The Star Senior Center is neither designated nor qualified for Adult Day Care. All participants must be able to physically care for themselves or have a personal assistant with them. This includes being able to navigate a walker or wheelchair and function independently.

 

Lunch Program

A nutritional lunch is served on Wednesdays and Fridays at noon. Suggested donation for persons age 60 and over is $3.00. Persons under 60 are asked to pay $5.00. Groups visiting are asked to make reservations by calling 208-286-7943. Visit or call the Center for a lunch menu.

 

Health Checks

Free blood pressure checks are provided the second Wednesday each month at 11:00 am. A Health Fair is held once a year to acquaint citizens with medical services that are available.

 

Special Activities and Trips

Throughout the year a wide variety of activities, parties, and trips are planned for center participants.

The first and third Wednesdays before lunch, dominoes and pool are available; and bingo is played following lunch. Pinochle is played at the center every Friday evening at 7:00 pm. The Senior Center bus is available for participants for grocery shopping trips the first and third Mondays each month.

Fund raising project are done throughout the year and have included a potato/chili bar, spaghetti feed, and pie contest during the Chamber of Commerce annual Mule Days event.
