The City of Star follows a Contract Policing Model with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. This model helps save taxpayers money by sharing law enforcement resources with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, which gives the City of Star immediate access to the resources of the largest law enforcement agency in Idaho. There are 12 employees, 11 commissioned Law Enforcement Officers and 1 professional employee, from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office that are dedicated to the City of Star.

We, the Star Police Department, are dedicated to making the City of Star a safe place for people to live, work and play. We accomplish this through our knowledge, skill, service, ability to make a positive difference and commitment to uphold community trust. We can be trusted to always do the right thing, both personally and professionally. Our Deputy’s care about those they serve, always try to help, and are dedicated to “go the extra mile”. We know that the positive way we interact with others and approach our responsibilities can make all the difference in the world.

Star Police Department knows that the best way for the City of Star to maintain a low crime rate is to work effectively with the community, businesses, and fellow law enforcement agencies. Star Police Department strives to have the best of relationships with community members, local businesses, and fellow law enforcement agencies. Therefore, Star Police Department implements a community policing model by visiting the City of Star’s Schools, talking with business owners, attending neighborhood meetings, participating in community events, and even playing games with children at the local parks. We want all people in Star to personally know each Star Deputy and to see them as a friendly face and someone who is there to help.
