Fee Information

  • All permits become null and void if work or authorized construction is not commenced within 180 days from the issuance of the permit, or if construction work is abandoned or suspended from a period of 180 days after work has commenced.  Expired permits are not eligible for an extension or refund.
  • Upon written request for a credit or refund, the City will refund or credit 80% of the permit fee, 20% will be retained as a paperwork processing cost.  A full credit or refund will be given for an electrical temp pole permit if no inspection has been done.  If an inspection has been done, the permit will stay with the lot and block and no refund will be given.
  • A copy of a sewer and water permit for all new construction must be submitted to City Hall with the plans. To obtain an estimate of fees and permit, please contact the Star Sewer & Water District at (208) 286-7388.
  • Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing permits are in addition to the building permit and are purchased separately at City Hall.
  • Building application and construction plans submitted to City Hall will be disposed of when not picked up by the applicant within six (6) months of submittal date.
  • Residential, commercial & misc. building submittal fees are applied toward the total cost of the building permit and are not refundable or transferable to another submittal.
