Star Riverhouse

Interested in Booking? Please read the entire page, then follow these steps:
- Check the availability calendar on this page to see if your preferred date is open.
- If your date is available, complete the “Riverhouse Rental Agreement” found in the Supporting Documents section of this page.
- After submitting your agreement, you will receive an email confirmation and payment instructions within seven (7) days. Please do not call to confirm until that time has passed.
- One week before your event, we will email you check-in instructions.
Important Considerations
- Maximum occupancy is 80 people. This is a hard limit and cannot be exceeded. This rule is in place due to shared parking with Freedom Park and fire safety capacity.
- The Riverhouse shares its parking lot with Freedom Park. On busy weekends and during summer events, parking is very limited and cannot be guaranteed.
- The Riverhouse is located in a public park area with high foot traffic. If your event requires privacy or secured access, this venue may not be suitable.
About the Riverhouse
The Riverhouse is a scenic property on the Boise River that was formerly a private residence. The City of Star acquired the property in 2013 and completed improvements in 2019 to make it a usable public facility. It is home to many city-hosted events, classes, and private rentals.
Facility Features
- Full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, sink, and large island
- Two indoor bathrooms
- Access includes the interior of the house, wrap-around back deck, dance floor, and backyard area
- Furniture provided: 12 six-foot rectangular tables, 10 five-foot round tables, and 100 plastic folding chairs
Rental Rates

- Friday through Sunday: $200 per hour (2-hour minimum)
- Full-day rental (Friday through Sunday): $2,500
- Refundable security deposit: $500, returned if the facility is properly cleaned and undamaged
- Each rental includes one (1) free hour before and after your event for setup and cleanup.
- Any additional time needed must be included in your paid rental time.
- Reminder: The maximum occupancy of 80 people applies to all events, regardless of whether the event is indoors or outdoors. This is due to parking limitations and cannot be waived.
Payment Terms
- 50% of the rental fee and the $500 security deposit are due at the time of reservation.
- Remaining balance is due 30 days before the event.
- Events booked less than 30 days in advance require full payment at the time of booking.
- Cancellations made within 30 days of the event may result in forfeiture of 50% of the total booking fee.

Special Instructions for Events Open to the Public
If you are hosting an event at the Riverhouse that will be open to the public (as opposed to invited guests only), the event host must complete the "Special Events Permit Application" (in the Supporting Documents section below) and submit to Star City Hall AT LEAST 30 days prior to your event. Keep in mind that if food is being served to the public, proof that Central District Health has been notified of your event must be included with your application and they too require 30 days notice, so early planning is essential. Incomplete applications will be rejected and returned. Special Event Applicants must also complete the Riverhouse Rental Agreement Form.
Hosting your event at the Riverhouse does not make the City of Star a sponsor of the event. Use of the city seal on marketing materials or promotional items without express written permission is prohibited. (Ref Title 1, Chapter 11 of Star City Code)
